A Democrat politician has called for former President Donald Trump to be ‘extinguished,’ sparking a fierce wave of criticism over her inflammatory language. Gina Raimondo, Biden’s Secretary of Commerce and Kamala Harris surrogate, made the remarks during an interview with MSNBC on Wednesday. Host Mika Brzezinski immediately gave Raimondo a chance to backtrack, prompting, ‘you mean vote him out?’ Raimondo replied that she meant ‘vote him out so he goes away.’

The secretary’s remarks come just weeks after a second failed assassination attempt on Trump, with critics blaming the attacks on the Democrats’ repeated use of violent language and hyperbole when talking about him. Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung released a statement following Raimondo’s interview, saying that she ‘just advertised a bounty to be put on him.’
