My Country's Dying (Vocoflex)
The poem "My Country's Dying" was written on February 18, 1976 as I was contemplating America's upcoming bicentennial celebration. I was stationed in Germany, serving with the United States Army. I wrote "My Country's Dying - Postscript" on November 11, 2008 as I was contemplating the results of America's recent election of it's next President. I set the two poems to music and recorded the song as outlined below finishing it on Friday, September 13, 2024.
The vocals for this song were recorded with Dreamtonics Synthesizer V Studio Pro. The vocals were then processed with Dreamtonics Vocoflex to modify the timbre of the voices with data from my voice. The instruments were recorded using PreSonus Notion (bundled instruments and expansion pack), Applied Acoustic Systems (AAS) plugins, Native Instruments Kontakt and Cakewalk SI Electric Piano and SI Bass Guitar. The mixdown was accomplished using PreSonus Studio One. The video was created using Wondershare Filmora, Audacity, and Microsoft Powerpoint.
“Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone.” (Hosea 4:17, NKJV)
My Country's Dying
My country's dying
My country's dying
My country's dying
And the people don't seems to care.
America is dying, and her citizens don’t seem to care
America is sinking fast, and there is no help anywhere
The politicians carry on just like a pack of hungry dogs
They wallow in their wicked filth much like a pen of dirty hogs.
The ministers have compromised, and no one seems to listen now
The people have no faith in them, so it is not surprising how
The morals of the citizens have gone the way of outdoor johns
They've brought the filth into their homes, the list of which goes on and on.
There's one thing that can save her, but her citizens don’t seem to care
We Christians of America must bow our heads in humble prayer
And ask forgiveness of our God for violating his commands
And if we do the Lord will hear, and smile on us, and heal our land.
My Country's Dying - Postscript
I wrote those words some time ago, now things have gotten worse.
How can this land, once blessed so richly, now escape God’s curse?
We denigrate the brave and true who sacrifice their lives
And elevate the narcissist who tells us pretty lies.
We kill those waiting to be born, assist the old to die
We look upon God’s Word with scorn and say it’s all a lie
We ban God’s Word from public schools; ban God’s law from the bench
The godless works that we have done have raised a wicked stench.
And now we’ve sold our birthright for the promise of some change
Don’t be surprised that what we get may seem a little strange
We have been used to blessing, never thought that God would damn
But as we praise our new messiah, we deny the great I Am!
