Burn: The Last Witness (part 58)

*Rayne disappears into the forever dark, the chasm he was swallowed by remaining yet the green that had enveloped him slowly fading until Burn cannot see it anymore. It is then he looks up and finds a great shock. The Son of the High Father, a man he saw get butchered on a silver platform, stands nearby smiling sadly before he turns and points to the horizons. A streak of green, a great emerald beacon, flashes across the sky as the Son explains that the love that the Blood Empress had for her child has left an opening that the High Father will use. The Son goes on to explain that his death, taking Burns place, was necessary to cleanse the Darkened Earth fully. The Son had already once died to purify the souls of all mankind and now he needed to do it again for the very land so that the new heaven on this New Earth will be able to grow. And it will grow. Soon the whole world will be that majestic golden city, the eternal city, that Burn has already visited and he can go and be in that city right now if he desires. But the Blood Empress did wrap her very essence, what remained of her ghostly soul that Burn had seen before, around Rayne to protect him as he fell into the underworld. This essence has left a trace, a path, deep in what remains of the Darkened Earth for lost souls to find if ever they turn away from the growing light of the growing new heaven on this New Earth. Many will flee towards the green, unless a Witness tells them of the beauty seen in a city whose streets that Witness once walked along. Will Burn continue to be a Witness, following the green in the sky until he perhaps even pierces into the darkest parts of the underworld to drag souls...and Rayne...back to paradise, or will he finally rest and be a Witness no more [AI Art]*
