Keystone by Peter Lovesey. BBC RADIO DRAMA

A BBC Radio adaptation of Peter Lovesey's 1983 historical crime novel, set in the heyday of Hollywood's silent film era.

The year is 1916. Warwick Easton is an actor who has arrived in Hollywood looking for a job, and he's lucky enough to get hired by one of the most prolific film studios of that time.

A couple of small problems, though...Warwick is British, the studio that has hired him is Mack Sennet Productions, creator of slapstick silent film comedies, and Warwick has been hired to play one of the Keystone Kops.

Well, beggars can't be choosers, and it is $10 a day...pretty good pay for that time.

However, as filming begins, tragedy strikes, and Warwick is about to learn that acting in motion pictures isn't as easy as you might think...and may even be a lot more dangerous...

Warwick Easton ... Mark Straker
Amber Honeybee ... Jennifer Ehre
Mack Sennett ... Roger Gartland
Brennan ... Kerry Shale
Louise ... Lorelei King
Frank ... Don Fellows
Winnie/Mrs. Swatowska ... Ann Windsor
Slim ... John Church
Chester ... Gordon Reid

Directed by Matthew Walters

Broadcast on BBC Radio 4 02 May 1992
