Masked Man With Knife Arrested After Foot Pursuit and Taser Deployment

Stark County, Ohio — On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at 8:28 a.m., Stark County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were called to the 1400 block of Raff Rd. SW in Canton Township in response to a person in a costume with a knife. Deputies arrived on scene and quickly located the masked suspect who then brandished the knife at Deputies. After a short foot pursuit, Deputies attempted to deescalate the situation. The suspect failed to comply with the Deputies orders and ran onto US 30 from Raff Rd SW, into passing traffic.

Deputies were able to stop traffic to prevent a collision with the suspect. One Deputy deployed a Taser to affect the arrest and the suspect was taken into custody without further incident. There were no apparent injuries to the suspect. The suspect was identified as 35 year-old Jacob Weisgarber. He was charged with two counts of Aggravated Menacing (F5), one count of Obstructing Official Business (M2), one count of Inducing Panic (M1) and one Count of Resisting Arrest (F4). Suspect was also booked on the following warrants. Aggravated Possession of Drugs (F5), Attempted Grand Theft (F5).
