Does Hiking Help Burn Fat?

I must say that I have never seen a comprehensive study that would show quantitatively how effective hiking is in burning body fat and loosing weight.

All you can find are numbers of calories burned in the process. But temporary burning of calories is not necessarily the same as losing weight.

From my own mountaineering experience, I know for sure that it is possible to temporarily lose weight after a number of hard climbs. However, in general, hiking should be combined with an appropriate diet, and here is my own example that demonstrates this.

I have been recently in the mountains for 5 weeks and had more than 12 climbs over 3000 meters and a number of round tours. For this I needed a strong food, but with very limited options for cooking and planning meals. I was sleeping in the car and in the tent all the time.

As a result, my diet was very bad and unhealthy. When I checked my weight after getting back home, I realized it was the same as before going to the mountains.
