what discipleship is not
Text: Isaiah 8
Intro:
- Context of chapter – names children meaning –v.8
Shear-jashub - a/the remnant shall return
Maher-shalal-hashbaz - making speed to the spoil; he hastens to the prey
"spoil quickly, plunder speedily"
- Great commission – Mat 28: 18-20 – other verses
What discipleship is not:
1. It is not one-man-Show - v.2 - "...took unto me faithful witnesses to record
2. It is not a Social Club - v. 9
- "Associate yourselves, O ye people, and ye shall be broken in pieces.."
3. It is not a Security Council - v. 10a
- " Take counsel together and it shall come to naught..."
4. It is not a Secret Confederacy - v. 12
- "Say ye not, A confederacy..."
5. It is not a Sorcery - v. 19
- "...Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards..."
- “no light in them”
what is discipleship?
It is being faithful the God and His Word. - v. 16
- 16 Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.

Message/conclusion:
Be true disciples of the Lord Jesus, the Word that was made flesh.

John 8:31-32
31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
