AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department released body camera footage from a deadly officer-involved shooting that left a man dead on September 10 in North Austin.

Franklin Earl Miller was shot and killed by five officers at the Yadis Nails salon off West Anderson Lane at around 10:59 p.m. after he reportedly attempted to break into several businesses while holding a rock and possibly a gun in his waistband.

Officers were dispatched to the scene and arrived at around 11:11 p.m. and attempted to communicate with Miller, who did not comply with their commands. As the situation escalated, officers observed Miller holding what appeared to be a firearm in his waistband.

Despite repeated commands to put down the weapon, he continued to disregard instructions. At approximately 11:25 p.m., Miller raised the gun toward the officers, prompting them to discharge their firearms.
