We are taking a look at Sharps Rifle Company's .25-45 Sharps cartridge. SRC claims their 87 grain SP ammunition, we are shooting, has a muzzle velocity of over 3,000 fps and hits with over 1,700 foot pounds of energy. If so that is better performance then a number of well known deer cartridges. SRC also claims the .25-45 Sharps only has 10% more recoil than the 5.56x45 NATO. SRC states that the cartridge was designed for use in a Modern Hunting Rifle/MSR for deer-size game in jurisdictions that require .24 caliber or larger for big game hunting.
