Priced at just £45.99 and with substantial additional Amazon discounting at the time of writing, this has to be a good price for an A3 laminator capable of encapsulating documents of up to 13″ wide. This new and updated version keeps the same attractive price as the earlier model but incorporates a few new features such as a built-in document trimmer and the inclusion of the corner rounding trimmer, formerly a paid for extra.

In the rather plain box are the laminator itself with a handy and very useful document trimmer, the corner trimmer, a pack of 30 sample lamination pouches of different sizes and a large and easy to read user guide.

The build quality seems fine, lightweight but well made and robust enough for home use. The device has a 13″ wide document entry slot on the front face with document size guides clearly marked with the selector switch for hot/off/cold lamination next to it. On the top are two status LEDs, red for heating, and green for operating temperature confirmation. On the rear is the document exit slot, the ABS jam quick release button and the hard-wired power cord with a UK three-pin plug

Using the device is simple enough. Switch on at the front and wait about 60 seconds for the green LED to come on which indicates the lamination temperature has been reached. Place your document into a lamination pouch and insert the pouch closed end first into the front slot. It will then emerge fully sealed from the rear. It will work with pouches up to A3 (29.7 cm x 42 cm) wide and between 80-125 mic thick and with a lamination speed of up to 250mm per minute. Should a jam occur, switch the unit off and hold in the ABS button on the rear to release it.

It also does cold lamination, but this uses special self-adhesive lamination sheets and is designed for temperature sensitive documents. I doubt I will need it but it is nice to know it does it.

Formerly a separate item, the basic but nicely designed document trimmer is now fixed to the top of the unit itself. This works well and is handy to trim the photos and pouches to size. Build quality is again lightweight but it works well and is worth the effort to take care of. Also included, is a small trimmer designed to round off the corner of finished laminations to avoid sharp edges and give a more attractive look.

This is a nice, well designed device that works well with a minimum of fuss and bother. It is fine for home use but probably not heavy duty enough for long term office use. A very decent buy nevertheless for the price.
