Tekiah Gedolah is a long, final blast on the shofar that is played during Jewish High Holy Days, Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. The term is Hebrew for "great tekiah".

The shofar is an ancient musical instrument that is usually made from the horn of a ram or kudu antelope

Purpose:
Tekiah Gedolah is meant to inspire, awaken people, and give hope. It is also a call to examine one's ways and return to a covenant.

Tekiah Gedolah is often played in a public area, such as a hilltop, so that everyone can hear it.
