Chicken Kofta Curry I Chicken Meatballs in Gravy I India On A Plate

Ground chicken balls seasoned with herb & spices simmered in a delicious zesty gravy. Ingredients & Recipe below:

Ingredients For Making Chicken Kofta/balls:
750 grams ground chicken
1 egg
3 to 4 tbsp bread crumbs
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp cumin/coriander powder mix
1/2 tsp red chili powder
1 tbsp onion powder
1/2 tsp roasted garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt or to taste
2 tbsp chopped cilantro/coriander leaves

Ingredients For Making Kofta Curry:
3 tbsp veg./canola oil
1 large red onion - finely chopped/grated
3 cloves garlic - minced or paste
3 medium tomatoes - diced
1 tbsp green chili-ginger paste
1 tbsp butter
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp red chili powder
1 tbsp cumin-coriander powder mix
1/2 tsp salt or to taste
2 to 3 cups water
1/4 tsp garam masala
1 tbsp chopped cilantro/coriander leaves for garnish

Cooking Instructions:
In a bowl add all ingredients listed for making chicken kofta/balls
Mix well then refrigerate mixture for 30 minutes
After 30 minutes remove mixture from fridge and make 2 inch round balls
Set chicken balls on a greased pan, set aside

Next heat a nonstick saucepan to medium high
Add veg./canola oil
Once oil is hot add chicken kofta/balls in pan and cook until brown on all sides. It's okay if they are not fully cooked at this point
Remove from pan and drain excess oil by placing on paper towel in a plate

In the same saucepan add chopped onion, saute for 4 minutes
Next add minced garlic, stir fry for 30 seconds
Now add diced tomatoes. Mix well, cover with lid and simmer for 3 minutes
Uncover, add butter, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin-coriander powder, salt. Mix well then pour in water.
Stir well then cover and let simmer on medium low for 10 minutes
Uncover add garam masala. Mix well then add back chicken kofta/balls
Cover with lid again n simmer for 15 minutes
Finally, open lid & transfer Chicken Kofta Curry to a serving bowl
Garnish with chopped cilantro/coriander leaves
Serve with Basmati rice, Roti or Naan bread. Enjoy!
