Bidens Alba Feeds Migrating Fritillary

Bidens alba (aka Spanish Needle ) is one of a few, top, reliable nectar resources for bees and butterflies in many parts of Florida. The Fritillary definitely love it.

This wildflower weed is native to Florida and can be annoying for humans and pets, as seeds can stick to just about anything. I heard about humans eating this plant, not just pets and wildlife; leaves are said to be similar to Kale.

If you manage to find this plant or get a hold of seeds, you can grow one plant in a pot, then come fall, cut spent flowers off before it goes to seed.
