Isa 38:16
"O Lord, by these things men live; And in all these is the life of my spirit; O restore me to health, and let me live!
Isa 38:17
"Lo, for my own welfare I had great bitterness; It is Thou who hast kept my soul from the pit of nothingness, For Thou hast cast all my sins behind Thy back.
Isa 38:18
"For Sheol cannot thank Thee, Death cannot praise Thee; Those who go down to the pit cannot hope for Thy faithfulness.
Isa 38:19
"It is the living who give thanks to Thee, as I do today; A father tells his sons about Thy faithfulness.
Isa 38:20
"The LORD will surely save me; So we will play my songs on stringed instruments All the days of our life at the house of the LORD."
This was not the best thing for Hezekiah nor for Jerusalem. Hezekiah eventually became filled with pride (2 Chron. 32:25). His body was healed and raised up, so he raised himself up. That is not a good thing. Then after he was healed, he had another son by the name of Manasseh. Manasseh started ruling after Hezekiah died at the mere age of twelve years old. He was the most wicked man ever to rule in Judah or Israel. He was worse than Ahab and Jezebel combined (2 Kings 21:1-17). Hezekiah would have been better off dead than producing such an evil child.
