"It is very important to have (mpox) vaccines for kids. It's really important that when this program is implemented that we're in a position to be able to vaccinate children. There are ways of achieving that through even with the MVA-BN vaccine. But that is being approached with the regulatory authorities, SAGE. The Strategic advisory group on immunization has made recommendations for off-label use of that vaccine depending on certain conditions being met.
So everyone is working hard to ensure that children in this outbreak can be vaccinated, but we also have to have due regard for regulatory process, for safety, for efficacy and ensuring that if such opportunities are taken that we're collecting the necessary safety and efficacy data and that we always have the health and welfare of the population central to our consideration..."
