Israel Says Iran-Backed Plot to Kill Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Foiled | Firstpost America

Israeli security and intelligence officials arrested an Israeli citizen who was allegedly plotting to kill Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Israeli officials say the suspect was detained after making two trips to Iran where he allegedly met members of the Iranian intelligence agency. Israeli officials say the suspect agreed to carry out assassinations of Prime Minister Netanyahu, former Prime Minister Naftali Bennet, current Defence Minister Yoav Gallant and the head of Shin Bet for large amounts of money. The suspect also travelled to Turkey, where according to Israeli officials, he met several Iranian businessmen who have ties to the IRGC. Meanwhile, Israeli jets bombed at least 1,000 Hezbollah rocket launchers. Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah has said that the pager and walkie-talkie blasts are a “declaration of war.”
