In today's video I explore for the final time the abandoned Emerson High School for Visual Performing Arts (VPA) in Gary Indiana!

The abandoned Emerson School was built in 1908 and closed down in 1981 until it was reopened in 1982 as Emerson VPA. The school closed down permanently in 2008 primarily for issues with mold.

Probably the most notable alumni from Emerson High School are actors Karl Malden, who starred alongside Marlon Brando in On The Waterfront and A Street Car Named Desire, and Alex Karras who was known for Blazing Saddles and Porky's. Prior to acting Karras played in the NFL for the Detroit Lions for 13 seasons as a defensive tackle.

It was great to come back to Gary to explore Emerson School, especially it being one of the first abandoned places I ever explored in Gary Indiana.
