NASA has developed a new method for studying the lunar surface by shooting miniaturized spectrometers into the moon’s soil.

These tiny sensors, embedded in bullet-like casings, analyze the composition of the lunar regolith quickly and efficiently.

Using Fresnel diffraction, the compact spectrometers work at shorter distances, allowing for high-quality data collection, the Daily Galaxy has reported.
