20.9.2024 Mary Andrews Gardens, Mareeba (1)

Thought we'd stop in and have a look at ONE of the many parks they have over in Mareeba yesterday... Our community of over 5000 people in Kuranda has NOTHING anywhere like the equipment they have here in this ONE park in Mareeba.
The Mary Andrews Gardens are on the 'outskirts' of Mareeba, on the right just past the Dimbulah Road turnoff on the way to Cooktown, before you get to the Mareeba Industrial Estate.
Not many houses around it are there...not that we could see anyway.
We wonder if the Council are going to put anything like this playground/exercise equipment in down at the Kuranda Community Precinct?
They're working on a 'draft master plan' apparently...just nobody seems to know what that plan is.
Imagine trying to exercise/work out on this equipment in the hot Sun…
Obviously whoever designed it doesn't have to use it.
We hope whoever is working on the ‘draft master plan’ for the Kuranda Community Precinct puts a little more thought into it than they put into this...
Exercise equipment with no shade cover. BBQ's that are 20 metres away from the closest tables. At least we know their not just making poor decisions here in Kuranda - they're making them in Mareeba as well...
Kuranda has nothing like what this ONE park in Mareeba has... not even a BBQ.
