Golf - Lingering

Golf for me is one of those lingering leisure times with God. I love God, I love Golf, put the two together and it is sweet peace for my soul. I linger, stroll

Sometimes we just need to LINGER with Jesus. His Presence, being consciously aware of it, the incredible peace of Him. Jesus is more relational than we think He is. Sometimes I think we get way too caught up in religiosity. Remember, Jesus died to free us from the bondages that traditional law put upon us.

Do you linger with Jesus? Hang with Jesus in an idle or leisurely manner,?Do you stroll with Jesus? Is Jesus a part of all of your day or just a little bit of it? How would that look like for you if you did, “linger” with Jesus?

For me, when I LINGER with Jesus, it is such an atmosphere of unconditional love and acceptance, it replenishes my soul. Because in this world of cultural chaos, there is so much junk flying around, hitting us, keeping us ducking and off balance. Kind of like in a horrific wind storm, where things are flying around that could really hurt you… that is what this cultural chaos feels like. We need Jesus, we need to LINGER with Him, we need to replenish our soul with love, truth, and the assurance of our salvation.

Our circumstantial ease is up and down, I would rather have stillness of my soul, than strive after circumstantial ease where the change of the wind of our culture speeds from still to blustery in a second. This is not a perfect or stable peace. This is why we LINGER with Jesus. He is peace, stillness of soul.

Circumstantial Ease is something we hope for and at times wait for a very long time, yet peace is what we are led by, it is a tranquility that stays in place even in the midst of trials and life’s difficult times. The stillness of our soul is not determined by the stillness of our circumstances, this comes from Jesus, we get peace like this from Jesus, when we linger with Him, our Prince of peace, our gift of peace.

I leave the gift of peace with you—my peace. Not the kind of fragile peace given by the world, but my perfect peace. Don’t yield to fear or be troubled in your hearts—instead, be courageous! John 14:27

How many of you enjoy the game of golf? I know I do. When I play golf, I linger with God. I am totally aware of His Presence and very thankful for it. God is everywhere, He is with us even on the golf course. God wants to be a part of our golf game. I Linger with God when I golf. I play golf to rest my soul, it is a needed time off for me from a busy week. It is good to invite God into the things we love, like golf. Linger with Him, be conscious of His Presence with you and thankful and love on God, acknowledge Him, in the game of golf. We swing with precision, energy and health, and every swing I take, I am grateful that God maintains my strength, my health, my life, my provision. Lingering with God during my golf game is always a good time for me, being in His Presence and being grateful for all He has provided.
God bless ya.

“God is not some lesser employee, as many try to make Him out to be: rather He is the ultimate Treasure. He works in a man; He works on a man; He works through a man; He works around a man. Know that He does far more than simply work for a man. And yet, even as He Himself needs no one else, everyone else is ever in need of Him.” ― Criss Jami

“Our duty is found in the revealed will of God in the Scriptures. Our trust must be in the sovereign will of God as He works in the ordinary circumstances of our daily lives for our good and His glory.” ― Jerry Bridges

Your life is a journey you must travel with a deep consciousness of God. It cost God plenty to get you out of that dead-end, empty-headed life you grew up in. He paid with Christ’s sacred blood, you know. He died like an unblemished, sacrificial lamb. And this was no afterthought. Even though it has only lately—at the end of the ages—become public knowledge, God always knew he was going to do this for you. 1 Peter 1:18-21 MSG
