the danger of purpose

Why am I here? What is my purpose? Be careful with that question.

This question of purpose, it's haunted me for more than 20 years now.

What am I supposed to do with my life?

The more I tried to force an answer, the more the answer eluded me. And because I tied this idea of purpose so close to my idea of identity, the more I asked the question, the more miserable I became. I didn't know how to simply be because I didn't know who to be.
