For almost 50 years, the whole world is still fully engaged in a 'War On Tobacco', where the goal has been to create important regulations and guidelines to protect people from the dangers of smoking cigarettes. And as with any war, there's typically some collateral damage. In this case, we most often see the war on tobacco waged equally on all tobacco products, regardless of the differences there-in. When I first got into cigars, I assumed it would be a slow march to death for the industry. But I've been amazed at some of the results of our fight for a fair trail. Groups like Cigar Rights of America have taken legal action that has saved the cigar world from regulations that would have stomped the industry out of existence.

Now there's a new proposed bill that seeks to take the premium cigar victory to a new level. Bill H.J. Res. 99, which is aimed at exempting premium cigars from future regulations. It's an exciting prospect for aficionados. But more than that, this new bill outlines some interesting reasons for exempting premium cigars from regulations. This is a lot of stuff that people don't realize about cigars, their usage, and the implications of the cigar lifestyle.
