Animal rescues face many challenges; underfunding, community issues, and placement of animals, but they also face a greater challenge when it comes to their county animal shelters. In Florida, there seems to be a growing concern across the state that county shelters are neglecting/harming stray animals and lost pets as well as poor treatment of its workers and volunteers. I presented a business proposal to one of our own county commissioners to help resolve these issues and was turned down. Why do our elected officials want to sweep this incessant issue under the rug?
