February 2019
This Acme Coke Plant opened in 1905 in the Southside of Chicago in South Deering.

Built in 1905. Closed in 2001. Abandoned since.

Coke (fuel) is made by blending then heating as many as six different types of coal in one of the coke ovens. The coke traveled by conveyer to Acme's blast furnace plant where it was combined with iron ore pellets and other raw materials and smelted into liquid iron.

This was actually the fourth place I explored on this day but uploaded this earlier due to it being a revisit.
