In honor of PCOS month, we wanted to share this Ask the Doctor vlog with Dr. Joyce!

What is PCOS? How is it treated?

PCOS stands for polycystic ovarian syndrome, and its symptoms include small cysts on the ovaries and hormonal imbalances, which can cause abnormal menstrual cycles, weight gain, abdominal pain, excess hair growth, and other symptoms.

According to the Worldwide Health Organization, polycystic ovarian syndrome affects “an estimated 8–13% of women of reproductive age, and up to 70% of cases are undiagnosed.”
