I’d much rather have this chap in charge of the country

This is a perfect example of something I learnt over years of dealing with the general public.
People reflect back to you what you do, so if you’re having a bad day you’ll generally find everyone being difficult in return, but if you’re friendly and smiley (however hard), you’ll find that most other people are really nice too
