Show 180: Virtue

VIRTUE

Virtue consists in proficiency in the practice of good works and the tendency of the will towards what is good, resulting from persevering exercise.
It is only perfect virtue, i.e., those acts of virtue which are performed for the glory of God, which will be rewarded after death.
Virtue can only be acquired and increased by dint of strug gle and self-conquest ; for many obstacles have to be encountered, inward hindrances, the evil proclivities of the human heart, and outward hindrances, the contempt and persecution of men.
Virtue procures for us real happiness both in time and in eternity.
Virtue makes us resemble God, and admits us to the friendship of God.
