Jeremiah chapters 20-22 deal with Jeremiah receiving physical persecution, his consideration of quitting but persevering, and judgment pronounced upon Josiah's descendants.
The persecution came from the established religious leaders.
Zedekiah, the last King of Southern Judah, still asked of God's Word from Jeremiah, but was unwilling to follow God's instruction.
We also see a curse pronounced upon Jeconiah, one of the last kings of Southern Judah which declares that none of his descendants will sit upon the throne of David.
This had significance in Jesus' genealogy. It's the reason there are two genealogies in the New Testament which are different in which son of David is used. The genealogy in Matthew is understood to be that of Joseph, and most Biblical scholars see the genealogy in Luke as being through Mary, which is the one that bypasses Jeconiah.
