Bill Gates about vaccine skepticism

"We actually have more vaccine skepticism in rich countries than we do in developing countries. Part of the reason for that is that they see measles deaths all the time and when you say this measles vaccine, we'll make sure that doesn't happen to your kid. It's more vivid than in the rich world, where it's not responsible to not get a measles vaccine, but the chance that you'll pay a price for it is actually quite low. So there's a constant effort even with our work on polio eradication, we've had countries where rumors about the vaccine being to sterilize women have been spread and only by having the religious leaders come and vaccinate their kids, get the word out, somebody that's deeply trusted, were we able to reverse that and continue our eradication efforts."
