Liz Cheney and her husband have bought a home in Jackson Hole, a move likely to fuel speculation that the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney has political aspirations in her family's home state of Wyoming.

Public records filed Wednesday and obtained by The Associated Press reveal the home sale in Wilson, a posh enclave a few miles west of Jackson.

The four-bedroom, four-bathroom log home sits on 2.4 acres and boasts views of the Teton Range.

The asking price was $1.9 million, according to real estate listings.

Liz Cheney joined Fox News as a contributor in January. She is an attorney and former State Department official who co-founded the national security advocacy organization Keep America Safe. She and her husband, Philip Perry, have five children.

She lives in Virginia but lately has been showing up at Republican events around Wyoming. While Liz Cheney would be unlikely to take on any member of the all-Republican and safely popular Wyoming congressional delegation, the visits have led to speculation she has an eye on office.

Her appearances included Dick Cheney's first public engagement since his recent heart transplant: Liz Cheney joined her father onstage at the Wyoming Republican Party state convention in April. The two chatted mostly about Dick Cheney's long political career, and Liz Cheney spoke little about herself, making no hint at a run.

She did not immediately return a message seeking comment Thursday.

Liz Cheney has been raising money for Republicans around Wyoming and any talk about her political plans is pure speculation, said Tammy Hooper, chairwoman of the Wyoming Republican Party.

"She said, 'Well, what can I do to help you?' Because when I became the chairman, she was very supportive," Hooper said. "I said, you know, 'Come and help us raise money and help these counties raise money.'"

Liz Cheney is scheduled for more appearances in Wyoming in June and August. Besides the state convention, she recently addressed Lincoln Day dinners in Sweetwater and Park counties and the Casper Area Chamber of Commerce.

"I've never heard her say in any of her speeches I've been to, 'Gee, I'm considering running or in a couple of years I'm going to run,'" Hooper said.

Dick Cheney has long had a home in Jackson Hole. The presence of Air Force Two at the airport and truck-mounted military radar equipment in Grand Teton National Park advertised his visits there to fish and unwind while he was vice president.

Liz Cheney, too, might have bought a home in Jackson Hole just because it's nice there, said Jim King, a University of Wyoming political science professor.

Or maybe fortunes will change for Wyoming's senators, Mike Enzi and John Barrasso, and its lone U.S. representative, Cynthia Lummis, though all three say they have no other foreseeable plans besides continuing to hold office.

"Enzi could decide, a year from now or two years from now, that he doesn't want to run again. If he doesn't, then perhaps Lummis would take a shot at the other side of Capitol Hill," King said.

"There's always those possibilities."
