How about that Harvest Moon this past Tuesday night! What’s going on headbangers, Erick Benhardtson here, your host for SGT Rock's Headbangers Ball! Welcome back to the most wicked awesome Heavy Metal show on Rumble! Come on over and join us Veterans for the party up here on Freedom Hill, overlooking the beautiful Rappahannock river, broadcasting at 150,000 Watts of pure Heavy Metal power where the beer is always cold, the food is always hot, and the music is always loud. This show is filled with rock and metal from all generations.

The 1980s. Generation X (GenX), the last of feral children, weren’t allowed in the house on the night of the Harvest Moon. Many of us would find the best place to watch the moon rise out of the East. The Harvest Moon, was at its closest point to Earth orbit, made for spectacular Kodak click cameras, Polaroids, and those running 8mm film to this day have us acting like the monkeys at the beginning of 2001, A Space Odyssey. As the moon would move across the sky, and the sky was glowing. Illuminating the nighttime sky. We feral children ruled the night. We were given the order by our parent, “Find a place to sleep over tonight, the adults don’t want you here at the house!” Basically saying, “We’re partying tonight, without you and the other kids, so find something to keep you busy! Some of the older kids, the high school kids, went to parties, they didn’t allow us 12–13-year-old middle schoolers at those parties and always ran us off. What did we do? End up at someone’s house and did the kid thing, usually after a couple of games of Kick the Can or King of the Hill. This was during the time of Friday Night Videos, yes, I’m older than MTV folks, and we’d make a party of it. Some of the older kids would bring us to hayrides, we had a tradition of Apple Cider and Pizza. When I got to my Junior and Senior year in High School, I didn’t take part in such parties. I was working the second shift at my job. Then, when I joined the Army, watching the Harvest Moon in Germany and downrange on deployments to the former Yugoslavia, man, what a sight! Seeing the Harvest Moon over Heidelberg, Mannheim, Grafenwoehr, Wildchicken, Hoenfels, & Baumholder to include my deployments that the Harvest Moon rose over? It was so cool. Just wish I had a better camera. And now that I’ve been out of the Army, well, I still feel the same feeling I have when the Harvest Moon rises. That same feeling I had when I was that feral fuckin kid, acting like feral kids do. Doing whatever the fuck I wanted to. Now us GenX kids, we’re parents and grandparents now. Those I know are introducing their kids to the new traditions of their families. From hayrides and apple cider to passing down traditions that have been cherished for generations. Food trucks and farm stands I’ve bought from has some of the best chow you can get in the South. You name the game, I’m eating it, from fowl to four legs, roasted corn, caramel apples, and homemade pies, awesome bands play live music. Now that I’m 55, what I do now is a perfect blend of old and new, where the glow of the Harvest Moon illuminates a night of laughter, music, and gratitude for Life, Freedom, and the company of good friends.

My favorite part of putting this show, SGT Rock’s Headbangers Ball, together folks is this. With all the “Music at your fingertips today. Whatever happened to being excited about something? Music at your fingertips is one thing. But whatever happened to that anticipation of being excited to see, “What is SGT Rock going to play next week.” That’s the feeling I’m trying to bring y’all back to. Baby Boomer and GenX headbangers had this show on a cable station that has, since 1995 turned into an indoctrination channel for the poisoning of today’s kids. It makes me fuckin physically sick so I’m not going to mention those bastards who stopped playing music and started with a show called, “The Real World, San Francisco” and the disgusting reality TV shows and tomfuckery that has since then dumbed down those in the Millennial, GenZ, and GenA generations who you see today on social media.

And that’s sad. Because before all this indoctrination, that channel was about music, man. Just the music. The interviews, our heavy metal show on Saturday nights, our Summer. And then some fuckin suit and politician had to step in and fuck us over. That’s why I made this show. To give you that feeling you had and can have of “What’s SGT Rock going to have on the show next week?”

SGT Rock’s Headbangers Ball is not just a show; it’s a rite of passage for those who find solace in the heavy metal’s cathartic embrace, a sonic call to the headbangers, the moshers, and the fist-raisers. Keep your horns held high and that volume knob cranked to 11! This is YOUR…Headbangers Ball!
New shows every Saturday @ 1300 Eastern.
