I failed to enter Physical Education University because I couldn’t swim | Failure and career goals

Exactly 20 years ago, I was attempting to enter the University of Physical Education in Katowice, Poland where I come from. I guess back then you could call me an athlete and a seriously committed sports person.

I was playing for a football club, aspiring to become a coach or a PE teacher one day. Unfortunately my fear of water and inability to swim shattered those dreams durning the entry swimming test.

Unfortunately, life didn’t really give me another chance to try again as I had to choose a different career path and take care of my family responsibilities.

I wanted to share this story to show that no matter how many times you fail and whatever your starting point is, you can always pick yourself up and try again. Even after many years….

Hi, my name is Alan Cie. I learned to swim at the age of 32 and it changed my life. I'm making swimming and water an integral part of my life, my job, and my future business.

I talk about anything that is related to swimming, water safety, and water sports. If you would like to offer a collaboration or a joined video together, please reach out via email or Twitter / X.
