On 9/15/24 at approximately 9:07 PM, California Highway Patrol responded to reports of a pedestrian on the freeway on the eastbound 94 before College Grove Way. Upon arrival, they encountered a male holding what appeared to be a knife. The suspect approached and followed the CHP vehicle. The officer had to reverse his patrol vehicle on the freeway to discourage a violent interaction. The suspect then began running back and forth across both lanes of the highway throwing items and creating an unsafe situation in traffic lanes. When assistance arrived the male continued to not follow commands. A K-9 Officer was released and the suspect was taken into custody. The K-9 suffered minor injuries from the altercation. The suspect was taken to a local hospital for examination of his injuries from the less-than-lethal encounter. Traffic was stopped in both directions on the 94 for approximately 20 for the incident. CHP is investigating.
