1 Corinthians - Chapter 14 Summary:

1 Corinthians chapter 14 focuses on the proper use of spiritual gifts, especially the gifts of prophecy and speaking in tongues, within the church. Paul emphasizes that prophecy, which builds up, encourages, and comforts the church, is more beneficial than speaking in tongues unless there is someone to interpret the tongues for the edification of others. He teaches that worship and the exercise of spiritual gifts should be orderly and done in a way that strengthens the whole congregation. Paul encourages believers to desire gifts that edify the church and insists that all things in worship should be done decently and in order, so that peace and understanding may prevail in the assembly.
