Michael Shaver went missing in 2015 and was not discovered until 2018. Laurie Shaver claimed her then 7-year-old daughter shot her father when he was "beating her." The daughter, 15, even backed her mother up but the jurors were not convinced. "'And I grabbed her, and I grabbed her gun. And I went back out, and I went to the door. The door was already open. And he had my mom on the ground still. Still laying on the ground. Still kicking her. And I shot him." The woman's attorney said that the daughter "may have missed" and that it was Shaver's then-boyfriend, Jeremy Townsend who killed the father. Laurie Shaver took over her husband's identity after he passed and sent messages on social platforms, pretending to be him. She was convicted of second-degree murder and faces a minimum of 25 years in prison.
