In this Part 3 of my Black Girl Tragic series, I delve into the recent developments surrounding Lizzo's recent weight loss & awkward contradictory path against her body positivity foundations and 2024 Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris first presidential debate against Donald Trump. I highlight Lizzo's health journey and the societal perceptions around toxic body positivity and its negative effects on impressionable young girls and the greater black community. I also discuss Kamala & Lizzo's ties to Jezebel archetypes and being installed plants and puppets to influence unhealthy habits and low bars for role models based on selling their bodies and politicking over merit and hard work. I hope aiming to inspire a call for higher standards for the greater black community and society in general.
