Fani Willis skips a Georgia state Senate hearing while challenging subpoena

A Georgia state Senate committee, investigating alleged misconduct by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis related to her election case against former President Donald Trump, was unable to question her because she did not appear on Friday.

The Republican-led committee had subpoenaed Willis to testify and provide documents concerning various allegations, including her relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade, which they claim presents a conflict of interest.

Despite her absence, committee members discussed the validity of the subpoenas and noted Willis’s failure to comply.

Her legal team argued that the subpoenas were overly broad and sought privileged information, filing a request for them to be declared void.

The committee is seeking court assistance to enforce the subpoenas, led by the claim that Willis should have disputed them through a different legal process, the Associated Press has reported.
