This catechism is an orderly teaching of sound doctrine adopted by the Philadelphia Baptist Association in 1742, based on the previous Baptist Catechism, also known as Keach's Catechism, first adopted by Baptists in Great Britain in 1689.

Any catechism is just man's attempt to help explain the teachings in a way that is easy to learn and easy to remember, as a teaching aid for those who wish to learn sound Biblical doctrine. Any serious student of the Word of God would benefit from at least studying the questions and reviewing the answer from the Scriptures.
