The percentage of U.S. residents born outside the country – including illegal migrants, reached its highest level in more than a century this last year.
This according to a survey released Thursday by the U.S. Census Bureau.
It shows the foreign-born population is on the rise and makes up 14.3% of the country's nearly 335 million people.
That's up from 2022, when foreign-born residents made up 13.9% of the U.S. population.
International migrants have now become the primary driver of the nation’s population growth this decade, making up almost 75% of US growth.
According to CBP 9 million migrants crossed the border since 2021 – not including got aways - which are estimated to be another 5 to 10 million.
