A recent incident in Arizona left 30 people injured after a 73-year-old man, Thomas Edward Kain, allegedly drove his truck into the crowded Elks Lodge in Apache Junction. The crash occurred on the night of September 6, 2024, when Kain, suspected to be under the influence of alcohol, accidentally drove his Ford F-150 through the side of the building.

Authorities reported a chaotic scene, with cinderblocks and furniture scattered around the room. Ten people were taken to hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries, including fractures and cuts, while one individual was in critical condition. Fifteen others received on-site treatment for minor injuries, and five more went to hospitals for further care. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported, although the situation could have been much worse.

Kain has been charged with driving under the influence, aggravated assault, and endangering others. Both the Apache Junction Police and the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control are conducting investigations into the incident, with potential additional charges pending based on the results of a blood test.
