CARROLL COUNTY, Miss. (WLBT) - A man drove his lawnmower to seek help after his home exploded.

The explosion happened in Carroll County on Tuesday around 6:30 a.m.

According to authorities, James Duke was still asleep when the explosion took place.

“By the grace of God he escaped the fire and was able to drive his lawnmower to his brother’s home to seek help,” a press release by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office read.

Duke was flown to UMMC, where he is now being treated for third-degree burns.

The State Fire Marshal and the gas company are investigating, however, a space heater is believed to be the cause.

It has been reported that the explosion was felt for miles around.
