I’m so pleased that he is speaking out about threats. It’s obvious who the threats are coming from. Both Israel and US have been acting with absolute impunity since the end of WWII. They both believe themselves above the law, international law is for whomever they choose to apply it to but never for them. This is a much bigger issue than just Gaza. The outcome of these threats and the issuing of these arrest warrants will determine the future for world order. If the US and Israel are able to circumvent international law, the Geneva Conventions, UN, and all of the subsequent treaties and accords will be meaningless. We will return to “might makes right”, fertile ground for WWIII. Smaller, less powerful countries, will no longer have any protection against the aggression of wealthy, powerful states. It will invite chaos, a return to the law of the jungle. This is a turning point in world history. Either international law will be preserved, applied equally to all persons, states, and non state actors or the laws will continue to be a weapon used by the powerful to bludgeon the weak. That’s not a world that most of us choose to live in. We are so fortunate to have a prosecutor who will follow the law and call out those who attempt to subvert it at the expense of tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of innocent people.
