I purchased several popular and cheap survival kits to see if they are worth the money. I hope this video helps you build your own survival kit.

Many times we want to carry emergency gear or survival items while we are outdoors. The trouble is there are a lot of companies looking to sell us something. Often times companies pay people to showcase their gear in the best possible light. Some of these kits promise emergency preparedness in one handy kit, tools that will help us make fire, build survival shelters and be more comfortable. Many claim to have first aid components. They also claim to be great gifts for those you care about. After seeing so many good reviews on the big seller sites, and some high profile influences make "survival camping videos" featuring them I decided I needed to get a few to test for myself.
No big surprise, they are packed full of useless clutter and trinkets. The big "tools" they advertise to contain all failed with amazingly little effort. These are not for emergencies or survival. As for buying them as gifts, I guess if you really dislike the person sure.
