Do you need health insurance to afford going to a doctor?

There’s a much more affordable way to go to your doctor:

1️⃣ Pay cash. If you don’t go to the doctor very often, you may want to consider paying cash for your annual wellness visits (or as needed). There’s usually a pretty big discount for paying cash.

2️⃣ Direct Primary Care (DPC). This is a subscription based model that allows you to access your doctor like never before! Many have described it like having a doctor in the family - some allow you to text them, some do home visits, and most offer same day appointments.

DPC doctors usually don’t accept insurance, which allows them to spend less time on paperwork, pre-authorizations, and more time with you. They also provide better care because you get the healthcare you need versus the care the insurance will approve.

Just look up direct primary care doctors near you!

3️⃣ Health Share (or Medical Cost Sharing). This is a non-profit that provides an organized way for members to handle large and unexpected medical bills. Many will also share in costs for annual wellness visits and preventative care.
