Grasburg Castle: Above the Sense Gorge

Located a few kilometres west of Schwarzenburg, the Grasburg castle ruins is a treasure trove of history and lore. The castle was first mentioned in 1223 when knights of the Zähringer dynesty called this place their home. In the 15th century it was used an administrative Castle for Schwarzenburg. By the 16th century the castle was abandoned. The canton of Bern took possession of the ruins in the early 20th century and began restoring the location.

Today, the Grasburg Castle ruins are open to the public and invite visitors to explore the location.
