Dallas Cowboys' Coaching Shines Through in The Browns Game

My favorite play of the game was this interception because it showed how Coach Zimmer’s scheme is meshing with our talented defense.

Kendrick shows his rush really late and forces the Right tackle to take. Typically when a Tackle is tasked with blocking two men he is coached to prioritize the most inside rush because they have the fastest path to the qb. This leaves Parsons unblocked, which forces Watson to get rid of the ball quickly. Parsons anticipates and jumps up to hit the throw into the air.

I heard Kendrick’s talk about this play and he said he disengaged immediately to peel back because he thought it would be a quick throw. He was right, he see’s Watson start his throw and whips his head around fast enough to see Parsons knock the ball into the air. This was my favorite play of the day because I think it portends future defensive success because this wasn’t just a great player making a great play. It was a great player making a great play because he was positioned or schemed to do so.

Dak TD pass was a top 3 play for me and I won't spend much time here because Tom Brady explained it on the broadcast, which I will tag on to the end of this video so long as YouTube will let me, but one thing I wanted to show you, because Tom says we don’t pick up the blitz well, but doesn’t explain it. Remember when I said the Tackle for the browns pushed inside and let the wide rusher go free. That is what Guyton should have done here. Alright let’s move on.

The punt return for the TD is something I have wanted to see on the all 22 for awhile because you don’t really see them develop when you watch the broadcast. First I want you to notice this seem here, it’s designed that way, see how many Cowboys are on this side of the field and the way they are oriented. Second thing to notice is how quickly Turpin starts going north south. The players are too fast; you can’t run east west long and go all the way to the house. We’re going to wind it back and watch Israel Mukuamu run all the way across the formation to be Turpin’s final blocker. He slows this dude up just a little bit and then Turpin instructs him to get the punter, and sets him up well. He barely gets the block, but that’s okay because the punter barely tries.

All three of these plays really show how our coaches have schemed our players to succeed and I love that.

Do I love that? Perhaps that’s too strong of a word. I thoroughly enjoy that.

The Bible talks about love in 1 Corinthians 13. You’ve probably heard it before if you've been to a wedding. Love is probably the chief concept or idea our culture venerates which I think is ironic because I don’t think we really grasp what love is.

Like yes it is a feeling and verses 1-3 address that aspect of love, but love is also an action, as we inherently know this to be true

If we are treated poorly by someone and then they tell us they love us, we’re like no you don’t. That’s because their actions don’t portray love.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 tells what love does and what it doesn’t do and I have a challenge for us after I read it.

“Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.”

My challenge to us this week is to reach out to someone who loves like this and to tell them, hey. I see you love in a 1 Corinthians 13 kind of way. And I can guarantee that person will feel very loved by you if you did that.
