Isa 31:6 Return to Him from whom you have deeply defected, O sons of Israel.

Isa 31:7 For in that day every man will cast away his silver idols and his gold idols, which your hands have made as a sin.

When Israel returns to Elohim, they will completely cast away their silver idols and their gold idols and all their pagan ways.

Isa 31:8 And the Assyrian will fall by a sword not of man, And a sword not of man will devour him. So he will not escape the sword, And his young men will become forced laborers.

The Assyrians fell. They were not defeated by a mighty army marching out of Jerusalem. They were defeated by the Angel of Death.

(Isaiah 37:35-38).

Isa 31:9 "And his rock will pass away because of panic, And his princes will be terrified at the standard," Declares the LORD, whose fire is in Zion and whose furnace is in Jerusalem.

The Assyrians were soundly and quickly defeated by Elohim. They were a great and mighty army that would have crushed Jerusalem. But Elohim had other plans. The battle was over before it started.
