In August 2024, amid a sweeping crackdown in the West on independent journalists and free speech, Meta permanently banned The Cradle Media from all its platforms.

The Cradle is an online magazine based in West Asia. It reports on events in the region through an anti-imperialist lens.

On September 11, Dimitri Lascaris spoke with Sharmine Narwani, editor of The Cradle, about Meta's draconian censorship decision. According to Narwani, there is now more free speech in Lebanon than there is in major Western countries.

Lascaris and Narwani also explored why Iran has not yet retaliated against Israel for Israel's assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on July 31, 2024. Narwani addressed this subject in a presentation she recently gave titled "Asymmetrical Warfare: How to boil the Israeli frog". That presentation can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tzwcu3yvxE.

The Cradle's website can be found here: https://thecradle.co.
