"Sweet Jane," written by Lou Reed, was first recorded by Lou Reed and the Velvet Underground and released on their 1970 album "Loaded," while Mott the Hoople released their version on their "All the Young Dudes" album in 1972 and Cowboy Junkies released a slowed down version of the song; their version, originally recorded in 1989, is the only version to hit the Billboard Hot 100 chart stalling at no. 52 in 1994 after being used in the film "Natural Born Killers" (songfacts, 2024; Whitburn, 2006). "Reed wrote this song as a surreal look at the life of a rock star" (songfacts, 2024).
