"The Secret Doctrine, Volume II. Anthropogenesis" is a book written by H. P. Blavatsky. It is a part of her larger work, "The Secret Doctrine," which is a synthesis of science, religion, and philosophy. The book is divided into two parts, and the second part, "Anthropogenesis," describes the origins of humanity through an account of "Root Races" said to date back millions of years . According to Blavatsky, the first root race was "ethereal," while the second root had more physical bodies and lived in Hyperborea . The book also postulates three new propositions regarding the evolution of mankind that stand in direct antagonism to modern science as well as to current religious dogmas . These propositions are: (a) the simultaneous evolution of seven human groups on seven different portions of our globe; (b) the birth of the astral, before the physical body, with the former being a model for the latter; and (c) that man, in this Round, preceded every mammalian, including the anthropoids, in the animal kingdom.
